Case Study: How We Made Cobb Community Service Board Accessible and User-Friendly
The Cobb County Community Services Board provides behavioral health services for those in the community who are underinsured and uninsured. They also offer services for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Over the past few months, we have redesigned their site with the goal of improving community features and overhauling the look and feel.
The Opportunity/Challenge
The Cobb County Community Services Board initially found out about us at a Chamber of Commerce event where we gave a presentation on some of our services. When they approached us, they wanted to upgrade their old and outdated website. They felt that the old site didn’t address the needs of the end-user, and we couldn’t agree more. There was a lot of text and not much visual interest on the old site.
As an organization with crisis services available 24/7, the Board needed to have clear, concise information that would be easily accessible at first view. Moreover, they service 11 different locations throughout the county, all of which needed to be easily distinguishable for the user.
The Resolution
The end product is exactly what the Cobb County Community Services Board was looking for in terms of usability and accessibility. It’s organized, focused, and visually-appealing. It’s also visually-comforting, which is important as their users have mental health and substance abuse issues, as well as developmental disabilities. We’re really confident about the site’s performance post launch.
The key to our success on this project was grasping the significance of the Board’s work and conveying it on their website. Their new site captures the importance of what they do in an efficient, calm, and effective manner.
